Meet the Chancellors

Guitar - Robert Taylor

Rob Taylor has been involved in bands and music for over 20 years. He first took up playing guitar primarily to annoy his father who said "it be nought but a waste o' time and space in t'ut loft, lad". Since then he's been involved in many bands and played many styles, even touring S.E. Asia for nearly 2 years whilst subsidizing his troubadour adventures by playing and singing in bars.

After eventually settling in Cambridge 7 years ago, he has become a stalwart of the local music scene, performing in his beloved blues band and managing to run several music jams. This gave him the opportunity to find all of the Chancellors and fool them into joining his latest harebrained scheme. That was over two years ago and they still believe him...

Vocals - Annie L

Having begun violin lessons at the age of two, Anne began to pursue a career in classical music at an early age, but was side-tracked (happily) by her love for singing popular music. Almost a decade of experience followed where she sang rock, folk, bluegrass, musical theatre and world music with various bands while nursing a secret desire for soul.

When the Chancellors of Vice was formed in 2008, the dream was realised. Two years of hard work, countless gigs, and phat grooves - i.e. bliss - have ensued, during which the band has developed into the best thing that ever happened to her!

Bass - Claudia McKenzie

Claudia is happiest dancing with a bass in her hands! She has been busy on the Cambridge scene for many years and has tried her hand at everything from punk and pop to jazz and folk. Claudia feels most at home with blues, rock and soul/funk. She has been very active on the blues and rock scene over the years but now she is very happy to be able to indulge her passion for soul/funk with the Chancellors.

Keyboards - Marcel Kunkel

Marcel was born in Rathenow, Germany. From an early age his main interests have been in electronic music and piano playing, and in 1994 he began a career in sound engineering working with international artists including Nena, Uriah Heep and Boney M.

Never being scared of trying new things, Marcel has exercised his talents on all kinds of keyboard instruments, playing any possible style of music. He has worked with many different bands as keyboard player, singer, songwriter and producer but rarely enjoyed playing music as much as with the Chancellors of Vice.

Drums - Tom Winch

Tom has always had a broad interest in music, learning to play piano as a child. He took up playing the drums when he moved to Cambridge in 2000 and began teaching others to play in 2008. Tom played in a variety of bands in Cambridge before taking up his position with the Chancellors, for whom he provides a rock-solid groove.
